The Witczak Graduate Award in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland has been created to honor Dr. Matthew Witczak.
Dr. Witczak served as a graduate advisor and teacher on campus between 1973 and 1999 and during that time, had a tremendous impact on his students.
Dr. Witczak’s mastery of the material, organized mind, and devotion to students were a hallmark of his years on campus.
In honor of Dr. Witczak, alumni Ken Bell and Bill Wainger have established an endowed fund to support scholarships to graduate students focusing on geotechnical engineering and pavement design—a fitting legacy to a man who was known to do whatever it took to help a student succeed.
Honoring Dr. Witczak
The committee has set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 to fund the Witczak Graduate Award.
To pave the way to this goal, we will need the help of all who wish to honor the legacy of a great teacher.
Giving options to this campaign include one-time gifts, multi-year pledges and planned giving options.
